Purpose of Promises of Life MinistriesPromises of Life was born from a functioning prison ministry of many years. The need of men receiving ministry while in prison was during those years our primary concern. However, we realized that the needs of a prisoner are truly critical in the months immediately before and immediately after his release. We wanted to take a major step in not only ministering to the men while in prison, but preparing them for release. This preparation would come in the form of ministry, preparation and training. In most cases, men need to be instructed from the Bible in practical matters that will affect them in every day life. However, as vitally important as a relationship with God as well as Biblical training is, we realize that it is God's will men earn an honest living to provide for their families in a legal and honest manner. Part of the implementation of our purpose is to provide training and instruction in trades and crafts as well as the important Biblical mentoring and training. Our Purpose Commit to Change and Responsibility for their Lives and Actions Our first priority is to provide a place for men being released from prison that can receive them from the prison or diversionary system. These men will be required to commit that they have made a determination to take responsibility for their lives in the future to make good decisions and cause change in their lives because of good decisions. We will assist them both the Spiritual and day to day needs required to make the changes possible. Establish and Confirm the Change As a fundamental and major part of this life change, we propose to place the men in a Christ Like environment where they can be nurtured in the Lord to grow in body, soul and spirit. This new environment is designed to prepare them for life in the real world as men of integrity, honor and responsibility. The purpose, motive and desired result of this time of preparation and growth is the men become truly what God has intended they should be. Completing these Goals The purpose and process of Promises of Life is profound but simple, a promise of abundant life to men that previously have been ensnared by a life that was producing death and destruction for them and their families. Certainly this ministry is first and foremost about the life change that must take place in a man that has been imprisoned for a serious crime. But heavenly mindedness without the values, wisdom, knowledge and assistance to make a life change may result in a jail house experience that fails shortly after the inmate is released. We are committed to making the Promises of Life we share with these men the bedrock of change. We intend to give every man that comes into our oversight Biblical wisdom and knowledge, spiritual understanding and commercial skills so he can return to society and become the productive Christian, breadwinner, husband, father and citizen God intended he should be. © Promises of Life Ministries 2003, 2007 |
