Inmate Clothing

Promises of Life has negotiated a agreement with the 12+ local Goodwill Stores so that our staff, volunteers and friends can donate clothing to Goodwill and in return for each standard garbage bag full of clothes donated in our behalf, we receive a voucher good for $5.00 worth of clothing or shoes. We can then give these vouchers to the clients. We also provide, depending upon availability, transportation to the Goodwill Store for the client to pick out his clothes. This allows the client to dress for his work release or outside job more appropriately.

After Care

Jessie is one of our clients that went through several of our ministry opportunities and has continued to be in touch with us, even though he has moved away from the Mobile area.

After care consists of various assistance including but not limited to transportation to and from interviews for jobs, employer networking to assist clients during their work release time or upon release to get and retain a job, drivers licenses, and/or reestablishing their personal ID upon release from prison. Some inmates that have been in jail for an extended period of time actually have to "start over" in terms of personal identity and proof of identity. We assist in this process..

Vocational and Life Skills Training

We conduct a variety of classes on a continual basis for our clients.

Please see our Vocational Pages for more details.

Classes include, but are not limited to, Finances, Flooring, Electrical (2 levels), Computer Skills (3 levels). Drug Recovery, GED Equivalency and more.

Disaster Relief

During the recent violent weather and hurricanes, Promises of Life was able to get help from the local law enforcement and metro jail. This help was in the form of inmates to help load, unload and reload trucks incoming from other areas with supplies as well as offloading and reloading to trucks headed to the hurricane ravaged areas.
