Mentoring
Mentoring is a process where we work with our clients in a one on one basis. Our primary
purpose is to point our clients toward Christ and win them to the Lord. This is a critical part of the change
necessary in any client. Regardless to the term of his incarceration, short, long, life or even death row, the change of heart
must occur first before any other programs or processes we offer will be effective.
Mentoring is the process where a POL volunteer that has a heart for the men, has been trained and is willing to spend the time
with men one on one to develop a relationship. The primary objective is to reach each and every man with the Gospel.
We observe a protocol of integrity, observing the ALDOT regulations regarding interaction of inmates and outsiders. However, we are still able to impact
the lives of our clients in a positive manner by sharing the Word with them, answering Biblical and non-legal life questions. Often, the mentoring process
extends into the post release phase of our relationship with a client. We work with the client to assist, along with our aftercare program, to help the
client achieve success in returning to the outside world.
This interaction often leads to a commitment to Christ, hope and life change that would come no other way. The
mentoring relationship ideally should
span and extend to the outside life of a released inmate that will lead to a continuity of attention and care. Our after care program works hand in hand
with mentors to assist the client in staying true to the commitment he made in jail.
We need men that will commit themselves to this powerful and effective mentoring process. If you feel called to help in this vital part of our ministry
